What Does this urine Test Result Mean?

Hi, I am 70years old female with 25 years of diabetes and essential tremor also having recurrent uti, . Urine culture report shows 3000 colony count and sensitivity to nitrofurontoin,cefuroxoime,piperacilin,amikacin.Due to recurrent uti shall I take low dose of septran per day for longer period after urine become sterile please advice

Hello and welcome to HCM,
The interpretation of urine test is as follows:
Presence of 3000 bacterial colonies suggest urinary tract infection (UTI).
The drug sensitivity test show the antibiotics to which the infecting bacteria are most sensitive.
Antibiotic course with any one of these antibiotics is required.
Once the urine becomes sterile, preventive measures should be taken to prevent further UTI.
Preventive measures include drinking plenty of water and taking citrus fruits.
Since, you are diabetic chances of developing UTI are always more.
Taking low dose septran is not recommended since it can give rise to resistance.
